On Wednesday 6th April at 6.45pm another elderly pensioner was attacked and robbed in Belleisle Street. The pensioner was attacked from behind, thrown to the ground and his money and mobile phone stolen. Police Scotland must act now to prevent any further attacks on pensioners in Govanhill.

Enough is enough. A protest will take place at the corner of Allison Street and Belleisle Street at 6.45pm on Friday 8th April. We urge all concerned and decent citizens to join us in showing our utter contempt for the criminals carrying out these vicious and cowardly act of violence and robbery.

Let’s Save Govanhill are calling for an emergency summit meeting to take place between First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, Leader of Glasgow City Council Frank McAveety and  Police Scotland Chief Constable Phil Gormley to address the issues of crime, filth, squalor and slum like housing conditions. These leaders of Scottish Government, Glasgow City Council and Police Scotland must now work together in partnership to end the fear and misery which prevails in the Govanhill ghetto. Govanhill must be afforded regeneration status and a zero tolerance crime policy implemented now.
