PENSIONER ATTACKED GOOD FRIDAY IN GOVANHILL – VIGIL FOR GOVANHILL PENSIONERS EASTER MONDAY
Police Scotland have confirmed that an incident took place on the streets of Govanhill on Good Friday. Around 7.00pm a Govanhill pensioner on her way to buy a bar of chocolate from the local shop was attacked and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance.
Let’s Save Govanhill will hold a vigil for all the Govanhill pensioners who have been attacked, battered and robbed on the streets of Govanhill. They are adamant that this time Police Scotland and Scottish Government must listen to their calls for help to prevent further incidents of robbery and attack of Govanhill pensioners on the streets of Govanhill.
The vigil will be held on Easter Monday from 5.00pm till 6.00pm at the corner of Daisy Street and Allison Street where the latest attack on a Govanhill pensioner took place. They are calling on local residents and Glaswegians to come and stand in union to show respect and caring for the plight of the vulnerable Govanhill pensioners who are no longer safe to walk the streets for fear of being battered and robbed.
Let’s Save Govanhill campaigners said ” This latest attack on our Govanhill pensioners must not and cannot go unnoticed….we will hold our vigil in peace and with dignity to show that we respect our Govanhill pensioners and will not be silent. Police Scotland and Scottish Government must act now to prevent another attack on our vulnerable pensioners…next time it may be lead to the murder of a frail Govanhill pensioner.”
