Let’s Save Govanhill took their campaign to the local constituency office of their MSP and First Minister for Scotland Nicola Sturgeon on Friday 25th September to demand that she instructs Police Scotland to return law and order to the streets of Govanhill.
On Tuesday 8th September another one of our elderly residents was battered and robbed whilst walking the streets of Govanhill. Four adult male thugs battered and robbed the 76 year old man in Govanhill Park and we as local residents can no longer accept that this kind of cruel, thuggish and cowardly criminal behaviour is a random event. How many more incidents of our elderly residents being targeted will it take for the First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon and Police Scotland to finally accept that their is a pattern of cowardly criminal activity taking place and that our elderly residents are the intended targets?
Our campaign has called for Police Scotland to implement Project Servator once again onto the streets of Govanhill. This police operation was used during the Commonwealth Games 2014 to keep Glaswegians and visitors safe throughout the games. If it was good enough for the commonwealth Games 2014, we want First Minister for Scotland Nicola Sturgeon to tell the Chief of Police for Scotland to implement it once again in Govanhill.
